Activity 1
The class will video a few random scenes (such as students walking down a hallway or close-ups of door knobs or student's feet). This video will be edited to make the most logical sense (tell a story). The final edit requires:
(A) Beginning titles
(B) Montage (clips of the random scenes - everyone has access to the same raw video files)
(C) Closing titles
(D) Music - download music from http://www.youtube-mp3.org/
Activity 2
The class will write a news article
This news article will be read by the student, on camera, in front of a green screen.
The raw video will be edited. The video must have:
(A) Clear projection (the student must use a strong voice and pronounce their words)
(B) A chroma key image(s)
(C) Titles and/or headings and/or scrolling "ticker-tape" messages across the bottom (related to the content)
(D) New intro or new-style music [optional]
Activity 3
Each individual will make an "Art film". The screenplay, storyboard and YouTube video must be uploaded onto Google Classroom CODE: 70xo8fl
Some rules are:
(A) A focus on carefully crafted montage (mise en scène)
(B) 99% video shot by the individual (not copied from the internet)
(C) It must be "pure cinema". In other words, the story must be told visually (the dialogue is totally unimportant)
(D) It must capture an emotion (the tone and atmosphere must be strong and clear)
(E) There must be a screenplay
(F) There must be a storyboard (sketched on paper, then scanned digitally)
(G) No more than 2 minutes in length
